Amendments to Ontario’s Toxics Reduction Act Regulation O. Reg. 455/09.
The MECP has proceeded with a number of changes to the toxic substances reduction planning process. Major amendments include changing the date for review and preparation of new versions of plans (currently, December 31, 2018) to December 31, 2019, again by December 31, 2023 and requiring subsequent reviews every 5th year thereafter. This is being proposed in anticipation of a significant number of changes to the NPRI substances lists for 2018-19 and also to better align with NPRI review cycles.
In addition, the MECP has clarified that annual report information (plan summaries and public accounting summaries) should be placed on the publically-accessible internet before December 31 in the calendar year that the report is submitted and remain on there as long as it is valid.
