It is time to start planning for the June 1st deadling for regulatory reporting of air emissions
This is an Airzone One reminder that your company may be required to report your annual air emissions for calendar year 2008. ? These reports are required by June 1st, 2009 and need to be submitted to the federal government (Environment Canada) under the National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI), and the provincial government (Ministry of the Environment). ? Reports are mandatory for eligible companies as required by the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (1999, NPRI) and the Ontario Environmental Protection Act (Reg. 127/01), respectively.
Under the federal NPRI scheme, companies are required to report all pollutant emissions (air, water and waste) if they meet a number of criteria. ? Companies reporting this data must ensure due diligence? in calculating emissions and estimating thresholds for reporting. ? All data gathered will be displayed on the NPRI website, which is publicly accessible. ? It is important that facilities produce defensible data for reporting.
Similarly, the provincial Reg. 127 reporting scheme requires companies to report their air emissions for various substances. ? Again due diligence? is required in reporting and assessments should be sufficiently comprehensive so that at least 95% of facility emissions are accounted for.
Changes for this year ? ? Alterations to NPRI PAH reporting; NPRI Toolbox updates.
GHGs ? Some facilities may be eligible to report annual Greenhouse Gas emissions based on emissions of CO2 equivalents for all greenhouse gases (over and above CO2). ? Changes for this year include: ? data is now available on line to the general public (see our Winter 2008 news bulletin).
