An extensive survey of potential TDI and MDI exposures was conducted over several weeks at an electronics manufacturing facility producing ‘Black boxes’ for the airline industry. Isocyanates were used extensively throughout the manufacturing facility. The study established baseline exposure levels, specified workplace controls and hygienic measures for various work processes. Local exhaust ventilation controls, revised job procedures and personal protective equipment were specified.
