Designated substance assessments and control program development

A leading aerospace and defense contractor, the client was spread over ten buildings, and employed over 1000 people. In conjunction with health and safety representatives of the union local, the use of designated substances was documented in terms of location, volume, frequency and type of use, storage and disposal areas, and numbers of employees exposed. In conjunction with the documentation, air sampling was performed to characterize employee exposures, and to identify those types of applications with significant exposures. During the final stage of the assessment, the control program and its required elements were finalized.

This program was conducted over a five month period, and represented an effort of about 700 man-hours.
